(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Welcome to this tutorial on bypassing firmware! I'll post different pages for each popular firmware version.

UPDATE: This is possible without the proxy server! If you have a parental control router, redirect the updatelist URL to the URL of an older updatelist! They are uploaded all over, so they are easy to find.

_______________________________

When the next firmware update comes along, I'll get the new updatelists up ASAP

Another note.. These updatelists are for the US only. If you get the UK updatelists, this will work the same way however.

[multipage=Play Online with 3.15]

Note: There are TWO Methods to bypass using 3.15

..Alright, here is a SIMPLE guide on how to bypass the firmware. You must currently have firmware 3.15 to use this method. It is possible to do with lower firmwares.. Also, we might be able to downgrade doing this, but I'm not risking corrupting my HDD.

Needed:
PS3 Proxy Server
A PC and PS3 using Same Router
(old) update-list.txt

PREPARATION:
Create a new .txt. document named "ps3-updatelist.txt" Put this in it
    # US
Dest=84;CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion=3.1500-;
Dest=84;ImageVersion=0000948f;SystemSoftwareVersion=3.1500;CDN=https://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2009_1210_54ee80e14e479f8351a988eb9a472072/PS3UPDAT.PUP;CDN_Timeout=30;

1. Set up the PS3 proxy server. Put your IP in the box, also make sure to check the PS3 box and hit start.
2. Go to the Replace files Tab and in the left box put
    https://fus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/list/us/ps3-updatelist.txt

3. In the right box browse to your ps3-updatelist.txt and click it.
4. Sign In, it should not ask you to update firmware. Congratulations, you are playing online with your PS3 on firmware 3.15!

METHOD 2

Quote from another PS3 Hacker on how to bypass with 3.15

Originally posted by another user
Figured I'd at least post this somewhere, since Sony made a pathetic move today (April Fools, yeah right) that affects a large number of PS3 owners; the removal of OtherOS. The 3.21 update apparently does nothing but remove a feature for "security concerns." I didn't even want to install it on my PS3 Slim, so I went and adjusted my server to bypass the update for myself and others.

Basically, this will allow you to use the PSN and play your games online while still having an older PS3 firmware version installed, such as 3.15.

If, eventually, a disc game comes out that requires 3.21, you will be forced to upgrade to play that game; there's nothing you can do about that yet. But in the meantime...

You can go to customize your network settings from XMB, and get to the part about DNS nameservers. Select custom, and enter the following IP as your Primary DNS:
67.202.81.137

And there you go, PSN works.

[multipage=Play online with 3.30]

..Alright, here is a SIMPLE guide on how to bypass the firmware. You must currently have firmware 3.30 to use this method. It is possible to do with lower firmwares.. Also, we might be able to downgrade doing this, but I'm not risking corrupting my HDD.

Needed:
PS3 Proxy Server
A PC and PS3 using Same Router
(old) update-list.txt

PREPARATION:
Create a new .txt. document named "ps3-updatelist.txt" Put this in it
    # US
Dest=84;CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion=3.3000-;
Dest=84;ImageVersion=0000a4b4;SystemSoftwareVersion=3.3000;CDN=https://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2010_0422_6bdf1b2409d705a0136c40746c62e85d/PS3UPDAT.PUP;CDN_Timeout=30;

Congratulations, you are playing online with your PS3 on firmware 3.30!

[multipage=Play online with 3.41]

This section is for FUTURE firmware updates in case they try to do anything drastic. It's pretty much the same method, just with a different updatelist.

Needed:
PS3 Proxy Server
A PC and PS3 using Same Router
(current, soon to be old) ps3-updatelist.txt

PREPARATION:
Create a new .txt. document named "ps3-updatelist.txt" Put this in it

# US
Dest=84;CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion=3.4100-;
Dest=84;IncrementalUpdateVersion=0000ace5-0000ace5;ImageVersion=0000afef;SystemSoftwareVersion=3.4100;CDN=https://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2010_0727_00c835be718fc3d5f793e130a2b74217/PS3PATCH.PUP;CDN_Timeout=30;
Dest=84;ImageVersion=0000afef;SystemSoftwareVersion=3.4100;CDN=https://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2010_0727_00c835be718fc3d5f793e130a2b74217/PS3UPDAT.PUP;CDN_Timeout=30;

3. In the right box browse to your ps3-updatelist.txt and click it.
4. Sign In, it should not ask you to update firmware. Congratulations, you are playing online with your PS3 on firmware 3.30!

If I can successfully downgrade, I'll definitely be playing online on 3.15 so I can have Other OS Happy

Downgrading the PS3 is a shaky process, if you want to you're going to need an Infectus Chip. (Actually, InFeCtuS).

It sure as heck isnn't easy though. You'd be better off just buying an old, used PS3 that has never been connected to the internet and therefore, never updated. I'm sure you can then update it to something along the lines of 3.15 by finding that firmware on the internet somewhere.

Either way, getting a PS3 to be running something under 3.40 is going to cost you. :(

I haven't been able to downgrade, but I gave up on it a while back. I have a contact that said he downgraded his ps3 without infectus, but I haven't seen any talk about it after he first announced that.

You probably would be better to buy a cheap used ps3 and upgrade it to 3.15. Then, use this method with a different update list and you could play online with Other OS..
