READ THIS FIRST:!
This only works on: iPhone 2G/3G and iPod Touch 1G!.
And only on PS3 with 3.55 or 3.50.. REASad Awesome
U cannot DOWNGRADE or JAILBREAK ur 3.55!
This method puts your PS3 into Factory/Service Mode on 3.55 yes! But u can't do anything with it now atm.

Good luck!

How to put your PS3 into Factory/Service Mode with an iPhone 2G, 3G & iPod Touch 1st Generation!

Step 1:

Jailbreak ur iPhone 2G/3G // iPod Touch 1G (Google for Redsn0w or PwnageTool, or BlackRa1n. Do NOT use Spirit to Jailbreak!!) [Don't know if it works above iOs 4.1!]

Step 2:

U will now see on your Springboard, "Cydia".
Open up "Cydia". First let it download all the packages!
Tap on "Search", type: "Bootlace". And Install it.

Step 3:

U will nog see on your Springboard, "Bootlace", start it up.
Now tap on, "OpeniBoot" and Install it. If it's done, tap on "iDroid" Install this too. (Can take a while!)

Step 4:

Go to "Cydia", and tap on "Search", and type: "OpenSSH", and Install this too!

Step 5:

Download at your Computer: "FileZilla FTP Client" connect ur iPhone/iPod too your Wi-Fi (Works the best).

Step 6:

SSH Into ur iPhone/iPod.
At the "Host" type the IP adress. (Settings > WiFi > Arrow next to your Wifi name.)
At "Username" type: "root" , At "Password" type: "alpine" , At "Port" type: "22".

Step 7:

Browse to "/Private/Var/iDroid" , once there u'll see a few File's.
Now drag and drop the File's what u downloaded, into the "FileZilla Client" ,

The file names are:
"Android.img.gz" and "zImage".

Step 8:

Now it's al done, close FileZilla.

Step 9:

Turn off your iPhone/iPod.

Step 10:

Put the Fat model PS3 "Off" via the Switch, for the PS3 Slim users, put the power cable out.
Connect the iPhone/iPod with the PS3 on the "Right USB Port"!
Turn the switch back "On" , PS3 Slim users, put the power cable back in.

Step 11:

Now put on your iPhone/iPod. Go to "Android" (Move it via the Power Button)
Once one "Android" , press the "Home" button on your iPhone/iPod.

Step 12:

U'll see your iPhone/iPod is loading file's..
When your iPhone/iPod says:
Waiting for Device to be ready (Or something like that)
Press on your PS3 the "Power" button, and the "Eject" button.

Now your PS3 will go On, but u will see only a Black Screen, the PS3 Turns "Off"
Just hit the "Power" button, (it takes a while when ur PS3 starts up, maybe 10/15 sec or less.)
U will now see: "Factory / Service Mode".

Now Enjoy!

You shouldnt, but its loads easier if you have 2 PS3s, so you can just data transfer whenever you want and can make sure that you have a JB PS3 before SONY finally patch it Dancing

To get out of service mode:

Download this file
You must login or register to view this content.
Extract the file to somewhere you will remeber
Format FAT32 a usb pen drive
Place the file on the root of the pen drive.
Eject pen drive.
Now take out anything you have connected to your ps3 by USB
Turn off your PS3 at the user menu.
Switch it off at the back or unplug it if you have a slim.
Plug the USB into the RIGHT!! usb port, (the one closest to the eject button)
Switch it on/plug back in.
Power back on Jailbreak style (power then eject button)
Give it a few seconds. It should power itself off.
Unplug USB then turn on.
Your out of service mode Smile
