Post: Can't get Rebug Toolbox and other packages to run
04-15-2018, 11:01 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Recently picked up a phat PS3 on a gamble and it came with v1.92 on it, hadn't been turned on since 2008.

Works great.

Put Rebug 4.81.2 REX on it without bothering to update to OFW 3.55. It installed and runs, but after installing the Redbug Toolbox, the program won't run and just goes to a black screen.

Have tried reinstalling Rebug 4.81.2 REX and issue persists.

Last I toyed with CFW was a few years back and went with Rebug 3.55.

Any ideas?

EDIT - I also can't get any other packages to run after installing. MultiMan, RetroArch, etc.

Well, I thought I'd use the BD from my other phat model and store the v1.92 for backup.
Forgot about the whole BD marriage thing.

Placed the v1.92 BD back in and all is fine.

More info here in this post as to why this was happening and sharing here for others that may come across a similar issue:
You must login or register to view this content.

Mark Webber wrote a nice little breakdown:

If you have an unmarried board but working drive you will get:
Disc can be inserted/ejected
If a disc is inserted the disc icon will just spin
An audio cd will eventually be detected but not able to be played
Black screen when trying to launch anything from the XMB
Can upgrade/downgrade firmware (it only checks a board is attached, not that it is married up)

If you have a dead/dodgy board/cable/drive you will get:
No way to load/eject a disc
No way to downgrade without a bypass firmware
Black screen when trying to launch anything from the XMB

If you have a married board, but dead laser you will get:
The ability to play/install homebrew
Can play anything installed on the HDD providing it does not require a disc to be inserted (discless booting)
Can upgrade/downgrade as normal per the guides
