Ok this is kinda risky but your options are limited.

  1. Go to recovery menu.
  2. Install You must login or register to view this content.. This should be the best for the job because it is built from an OFW (hence more stable in theory)
  3. If all goes well (no guarantees) you will be on Rogero 4.30 CFW. Which is a really good CFW.

It is quite risky but the only other alternative would be a flasher and if this goes wrong a flasher will fix it.
But who knows, most likely you get a corrupted data message during coping of the firmware but it's worth a try.

If you have access to a SATA/USB adapter you can try reformatting it to a FAT32 file system, then try installing it from scratch. From the symptoms you are describing, is it possible you got stuck in Factory Service Mode and tried to update from XMB or recovery mode?

One more thing you can try. Download this: You must login or register to view this content.

Its a hybrid 3.56/3.41 MFW with modded LV2diag.self files. Place file#1 LV2diag.self and the PS3UPDAT.PUP (rename it to that if you need to) on the root of a jump drive, insert it into the right USB slot, and press power. If that don't work, E3 may be your only option.

PS3UPDAT.PUP at root and ps3 update path, + both #1 / #2 lv2diag at root and ps3 update path same error 8002F2C5, do i HAVE to format it first ?

My last idea would be to update to a 4.x firmware maybe this unbricks me ?
