Just put the new HDD and then it will tell you to install the firmware you had before. Easy.

install 3.55 ofw and then install 4.50 ita after

Yea, as long as you got it from a thread here or You must login or register to view this content.. Don't install 3.55 as you need to install a 3.55 DEX downgrader to install that first anyway plus it will be 3.55 DEX OFW, but just install 4.50ita (would be the easiest. You can put you old hard drive back in and back it up then swap to the new and restore from back ups. Just note that if you want the DLC's n stuff to work you need to copy the edats onto a separate folder then put it where you copied it from after you restore.

I've done this a few times my self, by changing my HDD into SSD. This went horribly wrong, with CFW.

What I should of done: Go to clean 3.55, unplug internet cables and remove CD, then change HDD.
What I did: I just stayed on 4.46 D-REX, and it made my entire PS3 full dex with lots of weird settings that I had to set manually back to normal, by comparing my PlayStation 3 to someone else.

I think I've messed up bad, I tried taking it back to 3.55 and it worked but now I'm stuck on here?. Nothing will up date it either says its corrupt or no media found?.

The guy who set it up for me put me on ITA then changed me to rebug, it was all good for a bit but it wasn't the same so I checked system software and it said lv2 kernel cex and the other was dex.... Now I'm stuck on 3.55?. Can any 1 help me
