Then that means the console would turn into a brick when you decide to switch HDD's. Think about what you're saying.

What do you mean it would turn into a brick? I read somewhere anything further than 4.76 it has to be updated via internet

Updating to a newer firmware would be impossible. Every time you swap an HDD, it asks for an update unless it's already installed.
