Have you tried a downgrader? You should always be able to install it, no matter what, if the ps3 is still jailbroken..As long as you didn't update it to OFW, im sure it's fine.

1. Download and install You must login or register to view this content.
2. Rename the downgrader file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" (no quotes)
3. On a fat32 formatted usb flash drive, create a folder name "PS3"
4. Inside the "PS3" folder, create a folder named "UPDATE"
5. Inside the "UPDATE" folder, place the PS3UPDAT.PUP

verify your folder structure is :
fat32formattedusbflashdrive/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

6. Put the usb flash drive into the furthest right most port of the ps3.
7. Boot the ps3 into recovery
8. Select option "update system"
9. Follow prompt

If it doesn't work the first time, give it a few more tries and keep checking over everything. Sometimes usb flash drives can be a little pain and not read if not inserted correctly, etc. Happens to me all the time.

Might start there and if you need help just ask and we can tell you where to go from there.

Just restore the PS3 and update to 3.55 CFW whenever you get to that stage in setting it up
