Post: Adding a larger HDD to a Jail broken PS3

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello guys
I hope I'm in the right category, if not I'm sorry.

I just have a quick question, my HDD is very small and I'd like to increase the size.

Basically because this is a jail broke PS3, if I installed a larger HDD would I have to re-jailbreak my system?
I feel like I'm asking a dumb question here but I want to verify beforehand.

Or would it be just easier to link in a external HDD?

Please comment your opinions matter to me.
Thanks for your time NGU
Cheers.

You won't lose your jailbreak, but you may need to reinstall your cfw and you will need to reinstall games and any homebrew.

It's just depends on what you prefer.

Ok that makes sense. I knew I was gonna loose something, but wasn't sure what.
Thanks for your reply.

You do not have to rejailbrake but will have to install the CFW again.

I suggest this HDSad Awesome You must login or register to view this content.

*You need a Phillips head 1 screwdriver. ( They are like $5 at Walmart. Make sure it's a PH1. PH = Phillips head)
*Need a USB/Flash drive(at least 1GB)
You'll lose all your data and have to download again, unless you save it to an Extertal hard drive. (For example: your games, Homebrew applications)

Tutorial:
Take out old HDD then put in new HDD.
Press and hold the power button until it turns ON then OFF (Look at the lights. Should go from green to red) then press and hold again till you here 2 beeps. Now choose option to format.

(If you are Dex then download Dex and if your are on Cex the Cex from this website: You must login or register to view this content. )

Make sure your flashdrive/USB is formatted to FAT32.
Now download your CFW and put it on your flashdrive/USB.

Make a folder called PS3 in flashdrive then inside, a folder called UPDATE then put the CFW file there.

Now rename the file to PS3UPDAT (yes without the E)

Now plug it in your PS3 and press START and SELECT. (There should be a pop-up already telling you to do so. ) Now wait. Your done.

Make sure and go to Setting then Debug settings then NP Environment and put it to np. If it's already np then dont worry.
