(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I came home one day, and wanted to play some GTA 5, i turned on the PS3, and about 30-mins in, it does this -

If i barley tap on the exterior of the System, it cuts in and out - leaving me to believe its definitely an internal component.
Ive taken it apart, to see if anything was loose, and everything seems to be nice and snug. I don't know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have no clue what could be wrong, can anyone take a look at what its doing, and give me some pointers on what i can attempt to get replaced?

Yes, I've tried connecting the PS3 to another TV.
Yes, I've tried different AV/HDMI cables.

I'm stumped. Could it possibly be the Graphics Processor?

Thanks In advance. Tiphat

So I think it could be an issue with the graphics card. Try testing another game to see if the same problem happens. If it doesn't then there might be a problem with the game. If it does happen with other games, take your console into a repair shop. If you still have warranty send it into Sony

If other games work, then its just this game, if problem persists then there is absolutely a problem with the RSX Chip, you will need to apply some pressure to it, get it reballed or reflowed.

Thank for your replies.
This issue is, indeed, System Wide.
It's a Jailbroken System, thus Sony won't be of any help. :(
Any tips on either how to fix this myself, or anybody i can contact in-order to get this fixed?
Thanks.

I was googling a few things, and i few videos popped up where people would coat 4 pennies with thermal paste, and insert them (somewhere).
When you said "add pressure" I'm assuming the people in the video had a good idea? Or did you mean something entirely different?

You can put some pennies on the heatsink clamps for added pressure, if that does not work then you could try a reflow or reball, I recommend PS3Specialist for reballs, they tend to cost a lot but they can make your system better than new, I had the same problem with my console not too long ago and a reball fixed it 100%, it runs very quiet now as I can say, goodluck with the repair OP

How much does that typically cost? "a lot" i hope isn't the equivalent to a new system. If so, i'll just buy a new system.
You should totally send me a YouTube video (if you can find one) on where to put these pennies? I want to try the cheapest option first, and it cant get any cheaper than 4 cents! :P

Lmao, video here,

same method goes for the PS3 Phat, and I paid about 130$ but it will outlast a new system tbh.
