(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So, just under six years after the PlayStation 3 was released in November 2006, Sony stopped production of the PS2 around December 2012.

Do you think Sony is planning to stop producing games and supporting the PlayStation 3 anytime soon? ...I don't think so.

Some are saying PS3 will officially be dead by Winter 2016 but I doubt that. The console still has life inside it and still seems to be going strong. I find myself playing my PS3 more than the PS4, anybody else?

The following 2 users say thank you to br0wniiez for this useful post:

Funny thing is there are still some PS2 game servers that are still online. As for PSN I doubt they will shutdown anytime soon. PSN or not, jailbroken PS3's are still fun as hell. Everyone stock up on those 40nm GPU's slims that are downgradable while you still can.

The Ps2 had a huge life span.
The ps3 I think will be supported into 2016 maybe longer who really knows.
I just added thermal Paste to my Christmas 2010 Slim which was on 3.55

As long as theres alot of gamers still active on ps3 i could see it lasting for years to come....but if the cost of maintaining the servers are too lrge they will pull them without a second thought.
