So it has been said and released that PS4 Modders fx0day and eXtreme have been playing around with the XMB Entries for a bit. They have found a Database, and could edit some files in the DB. This has been done on the 1.76 Firmware. Here's a video demo, and some screenshots of the PoC PS4 Custom Home Menu:

A bit similar to the trophylist xmb hack on Vita a few months ago, though they used the messenger and attachment.

Its same method from the Vita, he modified app.db.

Not much for now, but it does prove that things like modifying system files without destroying your console is possible.

Ye like Red said, it has an unencrypted SQL based on the app.db, almost same as the Vita.
