(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well, it has been a while we have seen any good news for the weekend. Pretty slow day in the scene, but PS4 Developer You must login or register to view this content. revived it a bit today. He has shared a nice GitHub for a method to decrypt and unpack the .PUP Files for the Playstation 4. Note that this isn't by him, and was shared anonymously, so kudos to the person who released the method. In addition, Zecoxao did state some things towards this.

View Method from Github: You must login or register to view this content.

To roughly quote what he had explained to some Twitter Users about this:

Zecoxao: "This could actually port the WebKit exploit everywhere throughout the console. You can decrypt any user mode elfs from 1.00 to 3.55/3.70 because sony forgot to change keyset."

Sonicman2020
: "So this is the first step to actual CFW is there a way to repack and encrypt the PUP again?"

Zecoxao: "No, and there never will be unless you own a 15 million dollar quantum computer Happy"

So like we stated before in the PS4 Hacking FAQs I created. CFWs couldn't really happen. Zecoxao did explain it as well stating that something could potentially be done on the PS4 similar like HENKaku, but in the cold boot aspect, no.

READme from GitHub:

pup_unpack

A utility to unpack PS4 update blobs that have been previously decrypted using pup_decrypt.

Note

This utility will not unpack the contents of nested filesystems. The filesystem images in updates are FAT32, exFAT, etc images and can be mounted or unpacked with other tools.
