Weird, when you re-region it to US it becomes a male character named Einherjar Bardi Vikarsson. Still remains in Valhalla mode on the hardest difficulty.
UPDATE!
So it seems when you change regions the save takes on the characteristics of the save one uses to re-region. So if you had a male character the save ends up male and vise versa.
