If you get a refurbished one from Gamestop you can check the back of it for the model number. sometimes you can get lucky and find one that is downgradable.

It most likely will be updated. You might get a downgradable ps3 so if you have an E3 Flasher you could downgrade it.

Ahh thanks i'd just by one from ebay. & if i were to buy one thats on OFW where can i buy a cheap E3 Flasher?

Actually I purchased 2 ps3's on 3.55 OFW from GameStop about 6 months ago bro. I went through about 30 used ones but was successful in finding 2. Just go there and tell them what your looking for and you will buy one as long as it's on 3.55. They shouldn't have a problem letting you hook them up to check. :yes:

I found that most stores are willing to either let you check, or check the PS3's for you to make a sale.
