Nautilus - Build Guide
Nautilus is an AP tank champion that got released earlier this year. Nautilus is relatively easy to use; he's relatively hard to kill and can be a real pain in lane but he can be the downfall of a team if a noob is playing him. The one thing I love about Naut is that he's extremely versatile; I used to play him purely as a tank but now I play him AP, he can jungle and some of my friends played him as a tanky AD and did well. The easiest way to play him is to play him as a tank; I recommend this for beginners. Unlike most tanks you can play Nautilus at mid but I only recommend that to more experienced players. I have put in runes for mid laning with Nautilus.
Beginner Guide
The champion spotlight is a great tool for beginners. It shows you the most simple way of playing Naut and is probably how all beginners should start. Support will help keep your team alive and help beginners sustain lane and get a feel for Nautilus. However I feel that only beginners should play this as I think there are more effective ways of playing Naut. Beginners may also want to play full tank as that works fine too.
For full tank:
2x Flat Health Quint
1x Flat Armor (Top/Bot) / Flat MR (Mid) Quint
9x Flat Armor seals
9x Per Level MR (Top/Bot) / Flat MR (Mid) glyphs
9x Flat Armor (Top/Bot) / Flat MR (Mid) marks
Items For full tank:
Open with a cloth armor and 5 health pots.
Rush to build a heart of gold for extra gold income.
Buy a boots of speed. Build them into Merc Treads or Ninja Tabi; choice of boots is based on enemy team comp.
Build Warmog's.
Build Force Of Nature
Build Frozen Heart.
Turn Heart of Gold into Randuin's Omen.
Finally build Frozen Mallet in the sixth slot.
Opening:
and 5x
First Time Back:
![]()
Build the Ruby into Heart Of Gold ASAP
Build the Boots into Merc Treads or Ninja Tabi.
3rd Item:
Mog's will give you massive amounts of health giving you the ability to tank enemy damage; also helps counter true damage.
4th Item:
Force Of Nature will give you high MR and amazing health regen and as such makes it more useful especially when paired with Mog's.
5th Item (In place of Health Pots):
Cooldown Reduction, tons of armor and extra mana; enough said.
In place of Heart Of Gold:
Gives you tons of utility and will help your team while giving you extra health and armor.
Final Item:
Amazing slow and gives you a bunch of health.
Advanced BuildThis build is for experienced players. This build will be very aggressive and help you intimidate your lane. However this build is squishier.
Runes:
2x AP Quints
1x Magic Pen Quint
9x Per Level MR (Top/Bot) / Flat MR (Mid) Glyphs
9x Flat Armor Seals
9x Magic Pen Marks
Masteries:
9/21/0; Pick up points in AP, CDR and Magic Pen in offense
Items:
Opening:
3x
or
Take Doran's Ring only if you're solo.
First Trip Back:
and if you have enough
Turn the sapphire into Archangel's Staff.
Next:
Boots of Speed into Ionian Boots Of Lucidity for more cooldown reduction.
3rd Item:
The Magic Pen on this is really high and it gives you a large amount of AP.
4th Item:
Gives you good MR and helps improve Naut's uber pathetic Attack Speed.
5rh Item:
High AP and impressive unique ability.
In place of Heart Of Gold:
Helps keep you alive and large amounts of AP.
Skill Order
Most Naut players will tell you that Naut's Q (Dredge Line) is what you should get a point in first but at Lvl 1 Naut is not ready for an encounter and needs his W (Titan's Wrath) and E (Riptide). What I recommend is that you get Naut's W first then his E and Q at level 3. At this point Naut is ready for an encounter. Max the W first, E second and Q last. Get Naut's ulti at 6, 11, and 16.
I will be adding a laning guide for Nautilus. If you have any questions or suggestions let me know. Also let me know if you want me do guides for other champions; don't ask me for junglers or mages because I can't play those if my life depended on it.

Thanks for the help, I'll be sure to message you with any future champions I will be making guides for. Please PM suggestions you have for the champions I will be writing about. If you ever want to write about LoL guides or w/e, I extend the same offer for help to you fellow LoLer; yes I have now made that a noun.
