but what exactly is it?
What does this mean for users with an active Xbox LIVE Gold subscription?

What does this mean for users with an active Xbox LIVE Gold subscription?
On the 1st and 16th of every month until the end of 2013 you can expect a free full game as a way of saying thank you from Microsoft. On the 1st and the 16th you can head onto your Xbox 360 console and download that weeks game via the 'Games on Demand' service.
To locate the game follow the path below:
Xbox 360 Dashboard > Games - Browse Games > Featured - Free with Gold

It seems that AC2/3 and Halo 3 aren't the next games in line, but will be coming before the end of Games for Gold.
This weeks game is "Defence Grid: The Awakening" if anyone is interested. It hasn't updated on the dashboard yet but if you search it you will find it for free.
As soon as I get on PC I'll update the OP with a link to download this weeks game.
