Like the Xbox 360 before it, Microsoft’s Xbox One features a slew of titles available in demo format for those that might be on the fence about a game purchase, or for those that just want to try a small sample of a big upcoming game – luckily, Microsoft is making the step from demo to full game purchase all the easier.

The latest Xbox One update that has arrived for the console has now added the ability for players to “try before they buy,” specifically allowing users to unlock full versions of games from free trial or demo versions, making it even easier for that end up liking a demo of a game and wish to purchase the full game right then and there.

Chris Charla, head of Microsoft’s ID@Xbox program, mentioned in an interview that the feature has been feasible for some time on Xbox Live, and mentioned in particular that the new addition will be very promising for indie titles. Charla mentioned during the interview:

“That’s something that we recently turned on. I don’t think we’ve seen any ID@Xbox games yet that have shipped with trials, but we may well in the future. It’s something that’s open to everybody.”
