New Assassin’s Creed Announced

Ubisoft is ready for a new Assassin's Creed. This time around, however, things will be a bit different.

Assassin’s Creed, at least for me, is truly an amazing series. I remember not having the money to buy it when the first ever game was released. I was in crushing mental pain due to not being able to play this game. Christmas time came around and that’s when my sister, in my book, was awarded the “Sister of the Year” accolade. Yes, that’s made up; reason being, she bought me the game! I was hooked from them on to now, and have played all of their installments.

Assassin’s Creed 3 was, or still is, nothing short of awesome. Not to mention, beautiful. During a conference, Ubisoft’s chief executive officer Yves Guillemot, shared the wonderful news. They have plans on releasing the next installment during their next fiscal year, which will be from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014. That’s a pretty long timeframe for the release and I’m sure it will be set for the later dates. Maybe later this year or something next year is what will most likely happen.

With that being said, Yves Guillemot went on to add, “We are delighted and proud to announce today that in fiscal 2014 we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero. With an all new team and time period. We expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise. This is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the project, each gets several years to make their versions of an Assassin’s Creed game.”

An all new Assasin’s Creed “hero, new team, and time period.” Wow. With them expecting a “major leap” in the franchise, I can only imagine wonderful things. No further details were revealed. I guess he just wanted to get us all rattled up and turned on, then leave. Well, it worked. I’m stoked.

Although details regarding which systems it’s being made for were left unsaid, we can safely assume through past releases that this new one will follow suit. Dare I even mention next-generation consoles? The last Assassin’s Creed was released in October of 2012 and was a huge hit. With over 12 million copies being shipped out, their success wasn’t questionable.

I deeply wonder about the details of the next game, though. With a new protagonist in a new time frame and environment, where could it be? Now comes the hard part: the waiting
