Respawn CEO Explains Why Titanfall 2 Will Be Available on PS4

By Darth Saul Published 1st Aug 2016

The original Titanfall game was a highly anticipated exclusive to Microsoft and the Xbox One, so why exactly is Titanfall 2 going multi-platform?

Many expected Microsoft to sway the developers of Titanfall, the Xbox One-exclusive, first-person shooter that was released in early 2014, to keep the series a Microsoft exclusive when it was revealed that a sequel would be coming in late 2016. That turned out to not be the case, as the game's developer, Respawn Entertainment, noted that {url=https://www.nextgenupdate.com/games/titanfall-2/}Titanfall 2[/url] would be available on Xbox One and PC, as well as PS4.

In an interview given by OPM UK, Vince Zampella, CEO and Founder of Respawn Entertainment, gave a brief summary on why Titanfall 2 would be coming to Sony's Playstation 4.

{quote}Ultimately, it’s about bringing in as many people as possible to play the game. We spent years of our lives making these things, so we want as many people as possible to see them. It makes sense, We want a large playerbase so the games are more fun and more balanced, we want to get better games going, but it’s also just...this is all about the fans. It’s bringing things to the world that people enjoy, so the more the merrier.”{/quote}

The reasoning seems to align with why most developers would prefer including the PS4, and it's over 40 million consoles sold, in it's release plans. With PS4 sales still accelerating, including the console in the game's release plans seemed like a sure thing.
