Let's face it: no matter how much you love your Wii, when you play multiplatform games, you always get gimped versions that are often developed by outsourced development studios. With that in mind, Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist for Infinity Ward, has officially announced that Treyarch, the studio behind Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: World at War, will be working to bring the anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to the Nintendo Wii.
This certainly won’t be new territory for the studio, however. In fact, every Call of Duty game, starting with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (with the exception of Modern Warfare 2, which never made it to the Nintendo console), has been developed for the Wii by Treyarch. That means that the company is fully aware of the system’s limitations and how to best combat them.
While Call of Duty always sells incredibly well, it will be facing perhaps its fiercest opponent yet in DICE’s Battlefield 3, which comes out on October 25th. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to launch on November 8th on PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. While no release date has been mentioned for the Wii version, the fact that we’re hearing about it so late in the development cycle, plus the fact that Amazon hasn’t put it up for pre-order, tells us that it won’t be coming out simultaneously with the other platform releases, but we’d still expect it to launch before the holidays.
