I'm going to be honest with you, there really wasn't that much effort put into making the best of the isometric game art style. The problem is, isometric games (where there is no moving scenery or anything else to draw your eye) can't be as good as they could if the game had a good base of complex physics that could be manipulated by the players. But sadly, this just isn't the case most of the time, which is why there aren't very many quality isometric games on the market. But I will tell you one thing though, isometric game art doesn't have to suck, you just need to know how to make it work and I'll show you how in just a bit.
