Video game developer Deep Silver announced in a press release the release date of sequel to the 2011 zombie-survival Dead Island. Dead Island: Riptide is to be released on April 23 2013 in North America and April 26 2013 worldwide.
Deep Silver also revealed the Pre-Order Edition and the Special Retailer’s Edition of the game.
The Pre-Order Edition, the cheaper of two editions, will feature an exclusive pack of weapon modifications. While regular weapon mods can be discovered throughout the game, the Pre-Order Edition's exclusive weapon mods cannot be obtained anywhere else.
The more expensive of two editions, Special Retailer’s Edition, will feature the same weapon pack as Pre-Order Edition as well as special character skin that will only be available by acquiring the Special Retailer's Edition. The Special Retailer’s Edition will only be available at selected retailers, which will be announced soon.
Both editions seem to hold some quality in-game extras. While pre-ordering the original Dead Island, the player got one's hands only in one special weapon mod, while ordering Dead Island Riptide, the player will get many more weapon mods. Also the alternative skin option wasn't available at all in the original Dead Island, which indicates that Deep Silver has listened their fans and added a whole new content to the upcoming Dead Island: Riptide.
Deep Silver has made some popular series such as Risen and Sacred. Dead Island, however, has been their biggest success, with the sales of 4 million copies so far.
While the special edition prices haven't been revealed, the regular edition will be available for $49.99 when it releases on Apr. 23 in North America and Apr. 26 worldwide.
