But it also reads all PS2 and PS1 disks fine. It doesn't freeze if I play a downloaded game like Minecraft for example. I do believe it is the blu-ray laser and was wondering if anyone knew a trusted seller with a KES-400A laser?

You have a fat ps3. Remember to keep the logic board from your original disc drive with the ps3. Install it into the new disc drive.
