I haven't actually downgraded with this method but it should work(im ordering a teensy soon).
ME Coding i currently have 3 ps3 i will be ordering a refurbished fat from game stop to try because it allows downgrading Happy

Tutriol and confirmed by moderator of ps3hax his quote on the subject:

now if doesn't work one of two things have happened bad wiring, or hashes were not disabled on the .pup with this being said, it works.

When you open your Flash.bin (Dump) in hex editor the Core_OS you need to replace starts at 6F FF E0 in the offset C0000 and when re flashing make sure you only swapped the Core_OS and not the EID,METLDR,BOOTLOADER,VTRM because if you do your Ps3 will be permanently ****ED and you can't just use any 3.55 Core_OS you need to patch the hash checks before you use it.

TUTRIOL:
1. Dump your ps3's NOR

2. Make sure you have a clean NOR dump.

3. Open your NOR dump in hex editor

4. search for 6F FF E0 in the offset C0000 and delete the next 7,340,000 bytes( this will delete the whole Core_OS)

5. Take a lower firmware Core_OS and patch the hash checks.

6. Copy the new patched Core_OS into your NOR dump

7. Flash it back to your console.

Here where you can buy a teensly it $24 Happy cheapest compare to $80 infectus $65 prog
My review on the item is buy it. It cheap and gets you what you need to do.

If you don't turn your PS3 on you can probably fix it, you can remove the connections with heat...

thanks for the info, im really glad you let us know because otherwise i may not have known about it.

EDIT* it seems im off the hook in a way - i cant order it from pjrc.com because the card was declined for international transactions. they were kind enough to direct me to a European distributor but its a good bit more expensive (relatively speaking) so i may have to go with progskeet after all. the teensy is still cheaper but its not as good value especially when you consider it wont work with my ps3 atm. progskeet of course is twice the price hence the reason im hesitating, especially for a device i might use a handfull of times so im not sure about it. anyway sad but a little glad as well.

just order my teensy++ v2.0 to my country last week, and they don't have problem shipping it. its been a week already but robin@pjrc confirmed that there's no problem for international order. only paid $30 with shipping included.

I recommend progskeet. You can also wait for progskeet solderless clip. Progskeet supports NAND/NOR (Samsung/Spansion) and also has its own forum so if you have trouble you can ask for help.

*off topic* well after all the problems i had last night trying to get any company to accept a debit card internationally i gave up and went for the expensive progskeet option so its now bought and paid for. if your curious it was £43 including delivery with a discount coupon.

i would have seriously went for teensy but only 2 companies actually sell it and the reseller charges almost double the price of pjrc. its a shame pjrc has lost out on a sale because i would have went that rougte if it was possible but it isnt. the price i paid was just £13 more than the only teensy price i could have paid so i figured get the better one. on the plus side it will be here this week fingers crossed. I've got my teensy++ 2.0, (ordered it from floris.cc for the people who have trouble locating a teensy++ 2.0 and want to pay with paypal) can anyone who has successfully done this mod tell me if the text on the diagram has to be done or has any meaning for the teensy++ 2.0 mod:

wp#/acc tied to vcc
byte# tied to vcc

my understanding of the diagram tells me to solder all the pink "a's" all the green "d's" all the red dot's and one ground point from the motherboard to the teensy.
please correct me if i'm wrong?

I have a few other questions about the software part, after a good dump is there a difference in adding a pre patched core_os into the dumped one with the norway patch program, since all the tutorials so far have been doing it manually in a hex editor?

If everything goes well and the downgrade with the teensy is complete, what's the best way to transform the ps3 completely into a cfw ps3 for example 3.55 kmeaw i've read that a part of the fw is on the hdd that means that even if the downgrade has been done you still have to do a complete jailbreak to put the ps3 on cfw?

My question is can this be done with a usb pen with the right files on it or is a dongle required?
I do have another teensy i ordered two, so i could turn that one into a jailbreak dongle?

Thanks in advance.

God, I'd love to do this but the soldering looks so damn complicated, I might buy a Teensy and perhaps get someone professional to solder it, then do the work, speaking of which, is it amazingly complicated to do the part after soldering?

infact theres a automated program,
and others in development :p

Tut:
Step one:
Make sure you have 2 hands
// with your eyes, look below. they should be hanging on both sides of your body,
/// The thingy that has 10 thingys all together...

Next: Buy a Soldering Gun
// Go to You must login or register to view this content. and type how to buy a soldering gun

Step three (3): Start by connecting wire to point.
// A to B

Step Four: You already messed up, Give up
// Stop what your doing, Move away from ps3 and find the nearest EXIT.
//From there go play outside,

Step Five:
Congrats.

If i made any mistakes or errors in the tut let me know:y:

If you upload a video for this part....

TUTRIOL:

I will try the soldering out! ( I have 7 ps3's and I can afford to trash one if I make a mistake...)
