It is certainly a novelty from the latest Firmware 2.50. A function really interesting and very useful to avoid many of us send our console after sales service.

hahha playing PS3 makes you fat...really?....but back to the topic, i can see this as a key or something of a step to look in to for hac'n the ps3...like some one said early bout CFW on PSPs.

As well as the recovery mode has saved my 3 time bricked iPhone lol.
I gotta be more careful with hacking/modding the iPhone.
And thats great that the PS3 has this feature because I know that this would have saved my PS3 from being sent in.
