Just wondering if it's safe to play backups while I am online on psn? Will Sony ban me or whatever?

If you have bought the games and have them in your house then it is safe to play them online but if you have just pirated from a rental shop then no no and you will get banned or even worse. So if you have the games then sure but if not no.
