it looks likes its took a huge step forward compared to the ps eye we have today!

Apparently that is the PS4's Playstation eye, which works with the light bar that sits on top of the dualshock 4 controller

In fairness to Sony, their isn't much you can do with camera that can make them small and compact without this type of design.

It's a original design, It sits flat on top of your TV which is great because the Kinect is a pain and most of the time you have to set it on the bottom of your TV (Which I don't mind but). I like the Design.
