Several users are reporting sign-In errors for their PlayStation 4. While no solutions have been reported at this time, these errors are likely caused by server overload due to the popularity of the system. This error was only showing around November 15th- November 16th due to the intense amount of downloading and updating that the PS4 required.

Users have reported the following errors on the eve of launch:

NW-31484-0 (DNS Server Not Specified) - FIX - Fully shut down your PS4 (not standby mode) and restart. The system should connect to your network properly.

NW-31453-6 (Network connection has been lost.)

E-80E80034 (An error has occured.)

E-82F001F8 (An error has occured.)

CE-32883-4(An error has occured. )

Sony has confirmed that the issue is related to the high number of users attempting to connect simultaneously to PSN. PlayStation 4 automatically reaches out to PSN when connected to the internet, and the traffic volume appears to be overwhelming server capacity.

PS4 Blank Screen:
Some PlayStation 4 users report PS4 problems including a blank screen or lack of video signal. Related to this, you could have a broken HDMI output. IGN encourages readers to report any similar issues and effective solutions in the Comments.

There appear to be at least two causes for this behavior, and one viable solution effective in some cases.

Above: A look at the early HDMI problems IGN faced on PS4.
Reported Issues and Solutions

1. Try another TV first if you have one. In less extreme instances, the communication between the television/HDMI cable and the console fails to interpret the PlayStation's output signal and reconcile it with the television's native output capacity. Normally, the PlayStation autodetects the display device output and adjusts accordingly. When this process fails, no visible output appears on the television. By replacing the HDMI cable or the television, a user may be able to access the PlayStation 4's Sound and Screen menu and manually set the video output settings to a configuration compatible with their preferred display device.

2. During bootup, try holding down the power for 7-10 seconds until it beeps.

3. Is your HDMI port damaged? IGN recently reported another solution for some HDMI issues. According to Chris Pereria, "As it turns out, a piece of metal in the HDMI port that should have been flush with the bottom of the port was sticking up. This prevented the HDMI cord from being plugged in all the way and damaged each of the cords (in identical fashion) that had been plugged in. The solution was to, simply enough, press the piece of metal down so that it was no longer in the way. With that done, the system now works as it should." Be aware that by doing this, your warranty may become void. Attempt at your own risk.

4. In more extreme cases, it appears a hardware failure is occurring within the PS4 which renders it completely nonfunctional. This appears to correspond with a pulsing blue light. No fix is known for this issue at this time.(This problem has occured with YouTuber SoldierKnowsBest.

5. Try to restore the PS4 in safe mode.

PS4 blinking red light:
Some PlayStation 4 users report PS4 Problems with broken HDMI output resulting in a blank screen. IGN encourages readers to report any similar issues and effective solutions in the Comments.

There appears to be at least two causes for this behavior, and one viable solution effective in some cases.

If you see the power indicator light atop the PS4 change from blue to flashing red, the console is overheating. Shut it down, let it rest, and return to the machine once it's cooled. It is best to take your console to an open area where it has plenty of room to ventilate.

While it is not indicative of a dead console, some users have reported persistent issues and potentially permanent overheat indicators.

You can also turn the system so that it's standing upright has proven to help some users get their systems to work properly without overheating issues.

PS4 freezes while downloading updates and game updates:
Several readers have reported that their PlayStation 4 consoles have begun freezing while installing some software. These freezes result in a complete cease of activity in the console.

Due to the fact that the system locks up, there may be numerous errors causing the malfunction, but the general consensus is that the system is overheating. Freezing within the menus may also be caused by network connectivity issues, which is less serious than the overheating observation. No workaround has been reported as of this time. It is advised to power the system down manually opposed to unplugging the console.

A hard reboot may correct this problem.

Some of the titles and apps that have been reported to freeze during installation can be found below:

Battlefield 4
Knack
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
Playroom
NBA2K14
Netflix

Downloading, installing, or playing these games have been confirmed by a small portion of readers to prompt the error, though countless others are enjoying these features without incident.

PS4 blue light problem:
Some PlayStation 4 users are reporting PS4 Problems with consoles refusing to boot or output video. The PS4 Blue Light Problem is indicated by a continual, pulsing blue light on the console body.

The specific cause of this error is currently unclear, although Sony has acknowledged in a troubleshooting guide that the problems could lie with TV compatibility, issues with the PS4 power supply, issues with the PS4 hard drive, or issues with other PS4 hardware.
Suggested Solutions

If your PS4 isn't outputting video and you're seeing a blue light, first check input settings and cables, as the blue pulse error has some similarities with another reported and fixable PS4 hardware issue.

It is also possible that this problem may be caused by a misshapen metal connector on the PS4 HDMI port. Gently widening the breach with a tool to fully admit the HDMI connector may correct the issue. You should only attempt this at your own risk, as this procedure may void your warranty.

Other recommended steps from Sony include turning off your PlayStation 4 completely and holding the power button for at least seven seconds (until the system beeps twice), disconnecting your PS4's AC power cord, and checking your PlayStation 4 for visibly damaged parts.

If you have thoroughly checked your TV inputs, cables, etc., you should contact Sony support.

PS4 Wobble:
Many users report that the PS4 exhibits an unusual wobble at its base. This appears to be a result of the shape or placement of the balancing strips alongside the bottom of the PS4. Some consoles appear unstable even when laid against a flat surface. It is currently unclear what specific design element causes this issue. This is a non-important issue as it doesn't affect the PS4, because you're most likely to leave it in the cabinet anyways and the PS4 can be stood up vertically instead of horizontally anyways.

A short fix involves placing post-it notes into the corner of the Playstation that does not have balancing strips.

PS4 Disk Problems:
Some users have reported difficulty with the PS4 disc player. On occasion, discs refuse to allow themselves to be inserted or ejected from the optical drive.

Some reports indicate that completely powering off or unplugging the PS4 can correct these issues. Other user reports indicate that these problems sometimes disappear and/or reappear at intervals.

Sony has advised users experiencing these problems to manually eject the stuck disc within the system, though many users have experienced issues with being unable to load discs into the PlayStation 4 thereafter.

PS4 headset wont work:
A number of early adopters are reporting their systems are not recognizing any headset when plugged into the PS4.
Some controllers may or may not have a manufacturing defect that effects the 3.5mm headset jack. Go to Settings>Awesome faceevices>Audio Devices>Headset and Headphones. if the volume bar is grayed out, your PS4 isnt recognizing your headset. Push the headset adapter into the PS4 until you hear a "click." This may require the use of force. Once you hear the "click", you will notice that the volume bar is no longer grayed out, meaning the headset has been recognized. Adjust volume for assurance. Be careful to to push too hard so as to avoid damaging your audio port on your DualShock 4 controller.

PS4 Bravia TV problems:
Some Sony Bravia TVs have a firmware incompatibility which produces distorted graphical output when used in conjunction with the PS4. The distortion renders the UI illegible and difficult to use.

The solution may be a firmware update for your TV. Using a PC, download the particular firmware for your television from Sony's website, transfer the firmware to USB, and install the firmware through your television's USB port.

This has been confirmed to correct the issue with the following TVs:

Sony Bravia KDL-55EX500

PS4 Audio Problems:
The PS4's auto detection has difficulty discerning audio signals through a splitter. When connected simultaneously to a two-channel output and a multi-channel output, the PS4 may opt to output only multi-channel sound. This results in center audio channel sound being lost.

To address this issue, under Audio Output Settings:

Set sound to Digital Out (Optical)
Uncheck DDS5.1, DTS5.1, and ACC
Check Linear PCM

This should correct the HDMI audio output
