The fact that Red Dead Redemption 2, one of the biggest game releases of the decade is not getting a PC launch (at least for now) has ruffled a number of feathers. That said, over the months, theres been some evidence to suggest that it might eventually happen, even if Rockstar themselves have been almost frustratingly non-committal about it.
Recently, a listing for a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 went up on online retailer MediaMarkts Swedish website, with a 2019 placeholder release date. Being one of Europes biggest retailers, naturally many took this as implication that maybe Rockstar were indeed working on Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC, and that even though it wasnt coming at launch, it would happen sooner or later.
However, MediaMarkt have told WCCFTech in a statement that the PC listing for the game was nothing more than a placeholder, based on the retailers own belief that the version of the game will be launching eventually, just as it happened with Grand Theft Auto 5.
Its true we had the RDR2 PC version listed, the retailers rep said. I checked this with the games department at our HQ and got told that its something of a placeholder and that they count on it being announced sometime in the future (just as with GTA V for example). It is no longer listed as available for pre-purchase, though.
Come on Rockstar, just announce something already. Or at least let Devolver Digital handle the port- they offered so nicely (and cheekily).
At least PS4 and Xbox One owners dont have to wait too long. Red Dead Redemption 2 launches in a matter of days, on October 26.
