This is some information about Red Dead Redemption that may teach you some new stuff. Please note that I did NOT write this whole guide. This guide consists of my own information, and information that I've got from searching. I'm just posting some info to improve your game!

Making it to level 50 gives you the option to become a “Legend”, like Modern Warfare 2’s Prestige Mode. This also gives you the “How The West Was Won” Achievement (20G) / Trophy (Silver).

Red Dead redemption has a wide variety of things to do. Here's some of the activities that you can do. List from Red dead wiki.

Ambushes - Random encounter activity where a posse will ambush the player and attempt to kill him. This is usually common in Stranger missions.
Arm Wrestling - The player can test Marston's strength and skill in a game of arm wrestling, and wager cash on the outcome.

Escort Mission - Randomly generated in the wilderness. Strangers will explain they require an armed escort to evade criminals and safely reach a destination.
Executions - Randomly generated in the wilderness. A player will sometimes encounter a group of NPCs executing a captive individual and can chose to intervene or walk on by.
Five Finger Fillet - Players will need to rhythmically tap the controller to guide an on-screen knife between each finger splayed upon a wooden table. As the "Five Finger Fillet" wagers increase, so does the difficulty, making it trickier to stay on beat and keep Marston from slicing open a finger.
Hideouts - Areas where outlaw gangs reside away from populated settlements. The player can fight these gangs.
Horseshoes - A game of skill involving the throwing of horse shoes at a stationary target
Horse Taming - Lasso a wild horse and attempt to break it to make it your own.
Hunting - There are 34 types of animals that the player can hunt. After an animal is killed, it can be skinned, and the resulting meat and pelt sold or traded to merchants.
Liar's Dice - A gambling game where each person gets five dice, and throughout the game he tries to guess how many numbers are face up on a certain amount of dice, without losing a single or more die.
Master Hunter Challenges - Kill and skin various animals for fame, fortune and other rewards.
Murder - Killing a person with no reason or ending someone's life in result of having bounty.
Nightwatch - This involves the player protecting a settlement from various criminals.
Poker - The player can wager on Texas Hold 'em poker games.
Plant gathering - Gather plants to generate income and complete Survivalist Challenges.

As in most games, where it tells you the gun statistics in game, they are not true.
I have used every gun in the game and have gone legendary twice so I have had quite a bit of experience with the guns.
Here is what the in game gun statistics say;

1 : 0 : Cattleman and Knife; The Cattleman revolver is very weak with short to medium range.
2 : 150 : Repeater Carbine; The best gun to use for quite a few levels, for it has decent power and range for the level you get it at.
3 : 510 : Throwing Knife; similar to the throwing knife from Modern Warfare 2, but you only have around 20 feet of range with it, which in my experiences have proven themselves to be generally useless except when messing around with friends.
4 : 1080 : NONE
5 : 1860 : Volcanic Pistol; A medium powered pistol with medium Range, but a low rate of fire, which is the best pistol at that level.
6 : 2850 : NONE
7 : 4050 : NONE
8 : 5460 : Winchester Repeater; The best rifle for the level, which I normally bear with until I unlock the Springfield, as I am a rifle kinda guy
9 : 7080 : Schofield Revolver; A low powered revolver, with Low to medium range, I am yet to find a specific use for this weapon
10 : 8910 : NONE
11 : 10950 : Pump Action Shotgun; Very high powered, as most shotguns are, but generally useless at a range over 20 or so feet.
12 : 13290 : NONE
13 : 15930 : Springfield Rifle; One of the best rifles in the game, high powered with very long range and great accuracy; it is the best rifle in MY opinion until level 40, which is when you unlock the Bolt Action Rifle.
14 : 18870 : NONE
15 : 22110 : Dynamite; This dynamite is not what you most likely imagine; it creates an explosion of around 30 feet damaging all around it, but a kill range of around 15 feet, even less on occasion, which I only found useful when the enemy is bunched up in a large group to knock them off their feet with and then go in for the kill with the Springfield.
16 : 25650 : NONE
17 : 29490 : Double Action Revolver; Very high rate of fire, great for close range up to medium range, which is currently at this level the best piston to use.
18 : 33630 : Sawed Off Shotgun; A shotgun with only 2 shells, and very close range, from my experiences I have found this gun to be generally useless
19 : 38070 : NONE
20 : 42810 : Rolling Block Rifle (Sniper); The first sniper rifle you get, but aiming is nothing like from Call of Duty, for there is no idle sway, and the scope feels almost like you're looking through a magnifying glass, so it takes quite a bit of getting used to. It has a very long range, and very high powered. I would use it mostly in Free Roam for shooting a persons horse out from under them, then killing them while they are on the ground, trying to get up.

22 : 53190 : Fire Bottle; A useless weapon in multi-player due to the fact that you only get 2 of them, and the fact that they don't do a lot of damage to enemies from my experience, but it is useful close range when you are dealing with a large amount of enemies, because when you get them with the Fire Bottle, they will run/roll around, unable to attack you because they are on fire, which lasts around 10 seconds which is more than enough time to switch guns and get the kill.

24 : 64770 : Semi Automatic Pistol; A decent pistol, with medium range, with medium power, but in my experiences I tend to burn through all of the ammo very quickly.

26 : 77550 : Semi Auto Shotgun; The ammo capacity is of 5 shots which is good, and yes it is truly Semi-Auto, and from my experiences very useful against combatents at up to 15 feet of range or so.
27 : 84390 : NONE
28 : 91530 : Carcano Rifle (Sniper); The 2nd, and final sniper rifle you get, which has little or no difference from the 1st rifle.

32 : 123270 : Henry Repeater; It holds 12 shots at a time, with a medium range and decent power I found it to be useful online.

35 : 150810 : High Powered Pistol; The 2nd best pistol in the game, the gun is really true to its name. It has an all around range feel to it, and has proven to be very useful. It is semi automatic, and holds 8 shots at one time.

37 : 170970 : Double Barrel (Shotgun); Very powerful, but only holds 2 shells at a time, and from my experience is not to useful, unless up against one combatant, at a short range.

40 : 203910 : Bolt Action Rifle; By far my favorite rifle, it is a long range rifle, and is a 1/2 hit kill gun online, on occasion 3, I found it very useful when completing gang hideouts in Free Roam.

43 : 240090 : Evans Repeater; A very high capacity rifle, which holds 20 shots at a time, with a medium to long range and high power, the gun has proven it self to be useful in all around experiences.

46 : 279510 : LeMat Revolver; A high powered pistol, with decent range, but a very low rate of fire which really brought down the gun in my opinion and deserves to be unlocked around level 30.

49 : 322170 : Mauser Pistol; My favorite pistol in the game, with a clip of 15 shots, great range, and the highest rate of fire in the game making it my favorite.
50 : 337110 : Buffalo Rifle; With a capacity of only 1 shot, the gun requires a lot of reloading, but the gun has very long range, and is the most powerful rifle in the game, making it a 1/2 hit kill, the gun is only really useful in long range encounters.

As in most games, where it tells you the gun statistics in game, they are not true.
I have used every gun in the game and have gone legendary twice so I have had quite a bit of experience with the guns.
Here is what the in game gun statistics say;

1 : 0 : Cattleman and Knife; The Cattleman revolver is very weak with short to medium range.
2 : 150 : Repeater Carbine; The best gun to use for quite a few levels, for it has decent power and range for the level you get it at.
3 : 510 : Throwing Knife; similar to the throwing knife from Modern Warfare 2, but you only have around 20 feet of range with it, which in my experiences have proven themselves to be generally useless except when messing around with friends.
4 : 1080 : NONE
5 : 1860 : Volcanic Pistol; A medium powered pistol with medium Range, but a low rate of fire, which is the best pistol at that level.
6 : 2850 : NONE
7 : 4050 : NONE
8 : 5460 : Winchester Repeater; The best rifle for the level, which I normally bear with until I unlock the Springfield, as I am a rifle kinda guy
9 : 7080 : Schofield Revolver; A low powered revolver, with Low to medium range, I am yet to find a specific use for this weapon
10 : 8910 : NONE
11 : 10950 : Pump Action Shotgun; Very high powered, as most shotguns are, but generally useless at a range over 20 or so feet.
12 : 13290 : NONE
13 : 15930 : Springfield Rifle; One of the best rifles in the game, high powered with very long range and great accuracy; it is the best rifle in MY opinion until level 40, which is when you unlock the Bolt Action Rifle.
14 : 18870 : NONE
15 : 22110 : Dynamite; This dynamite is not what you most likely imagine; it creates an explosion of around 30 feet damaging all around it, but a kill range of around 15 feet, even less on occasion, which I only found useful when the enemy is bunched up in a large group to knock them off their feet with and then go in for the kill with the Springfield.

17 : 29490 : Double Action Revolver; Very high rate of fire, great for close range up to medium range, which is currently at this level the best piston to use.
18 : 33630 : Sawed Off Shotgun; A shotgun with only 2 shells, and very close range, from my experiences I have found this gun to be generally useless

20 : 42810 : Rolling Block Rifle (Sniper); The first sniper rifle you get, but aiming is nothing like from Call of Duty, for there is no idle sway, and the scope feels almost like you're looking through a magnifying glass, so it takes quite a bit of getting used to. It has a very long range, and very high powered. I would use it mostly in Free Roam for shooting a persons horse out from under them, then killing them while they are on the ground, trying to get up.

22 : 53190 : Fire Bottle; A useless weapon in multi-player due to the fact that you only get 2 of them, and the fact that they don't do a lot of damage to enemies from my experience, but it is useful close range when you are dealing with a large amount of enemies, because when you get them with the Fire Bottle, they will run/roll around, unable to attack you because they are on fire, which lasts around 10 seconds which is more than enough time to switch guns and get the kill.

50 : 337110 : Buffalo Rifle; With a capacity of only 1 shot, the gun requires a lot of reloading, but the gun has very long range, and is the most powerful rifle in the game, making it a 1/2 hit kill, the gun is only really useful in long range encounters.
