I love smart girls. ♥
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); If a debug .self is used with a BM, it can be edited freely without any hassle of decryption.

Here are some useful hex locations in t5mp_ps3f.self:

6A 75 6D 70 5F 68 65 69 67 68 74 00 00 00 00 00

70 65 72 6B 5F 6B 69 6C 6C 73 74 72 65 61 6B 52

73 63 72 5F 78 70 73 63 61 6C 65 00 00 00 00 00

65 43 6F 64 50 6F 69 6E 74 73 00 00 00 00 00 00

Now.. where can we get a debug self for BLUS30591?

SELF editing is what happened with these infamous hacks.

Here is a download of the .SELF: You must login or register to view this content.

Put it like this, at the moment mod are happening because people are exploiting sony's own coding with there executables, now the executables are signed which is one of the methods sony offers to the game industry as protection against hacking, if tutorials are fully released all sony needs to do if slightly modify it and release a new firmware and the method will no longer work.

But at the moment the only hacks that are available are those that use debug .self which you cant get oonline with anymore.

Heres my view on it ( people who dont agree just keep it to yourself this is just my point of view ) Im here to hack the game, not actually modding it in general ( spending countless hours scripting )
Once you hack a game, thats it end of, time to start a new hack on the game like figuring out how they compile there textures for instance then once you figure that out continue on your little modding journey. If you compare the two scenes honestly whats the difference? Go look at the MW2 section theres plenty of release PS3 content no different from XBOX.

You are correct, but much of the Xbox community shares, not all of them, it all depends, I don't want to be spoon fed a tut, I like to figure things out as much as I can, just saying sometimes people need help, plus when the methods are known the hacks can improve overall, you do have some valid points, but I'm not really active in the Xbox scene, I did look every now and then for some ideas for PS3 modding however. I do agree a lot of people keep things to themselves, I just feel that the xbox scene has more of a community and sharing approach, it's not a major problem, just something I noticed, in time the rest of us will probably figure it out, just will take longer

umm im not gonna say good job because you cant use this at all unless you can go online with the psjb iv been working on this for a while. with a debug .self some shit is decrypted but not all you have to use a tool in the ps3 sdk kit to decrypt it then decompile the elf with IDA or some shit and then encrypt it with another tool in the ps3 sdk kit... but its not worth it because nobody can use it because its for debug consoles or consoles with the psjb activated on i mean you can hack offline for sure with the psjb but its not that fun ''/

That's correct with some things, I completely agree with not releasing highly patchable methods, it's the unpatchable methods people should feel free to share. Not all of the hacks were exploiting sony's own coding though, hunter and theUnkn0wn had hacks for MW2 on PS3 before the Jailbreak was released, and the jailbreak just exploited a hidden feature, so however they did it wasn't with sony's own code and probably unpatchable, or difficult to patch, or just highly skilled

I've heard people say you can decrypt and modify a retail .SELF, the only thing I'm wondering is could you use it online? That's the big question

Impossible and Impossible ...

you cant moddify a retail .self because its undecryptable and you cant use it online if you could modify it because its signed sony if you modified it you would ruin the signature on it and the ps3 will try to read it then shit it self and do a barrel role and fail obviously

That's correct about the signature, didn't think of that, so if that's the case is it too much to suggest that the .self file may not be the way to go?
