(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 may have been the best-selling title of last year, but sometimes the first month of sales don't tell the whole story.

According to the January 2012's NPD figures, Modern Warfare 3 was able to sell a total of 386,000 during the month, fueled by a commercial with three celebrities and zero gameplay footage. To another series that would be great, but Call of Duty is held to a different standard. Call of Duty: Black Ops sold 750,000 units during the month of January last year, meaning that it nearly doubled the sales of Modern Warfare 3.

The question is: is this a sign of Modern Warfare 3 having shorter legs than its predecessors? Battlefield 3 put up a strong fight with sales totaling over 10 million, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive just around the corner ready for an AWP headshot. While the competition is is greater than previous years, it sounds like more than anything that Call of Duty fatigue is beginning to set-in.

This kind of applies to me (even though I bought the game on release). For me, CoD is dying. Just not fun to pay regularly anymore. I got my first Battlefield (BF3) game last week and haven't touched MW3 since. Don't get me wrong, I'm stilll a fan of the CoD series. I just feel it's dying slowly a bit more each year; for me anyways.

Yeah, that goes for me too. I bought MW 3 on release but I'm only 4th prestige and don't feel like playing the game, I usually go back to MW 2 to play with friends and laugh, but I got BF 3 from my sister yesterday and tomorrow exams end Smile

I thought the exact same 2 years ago, I'm a huge Call of Duty fan, but I fear that I've become totally bored of the game and won't be getting the next title.

I thought it was already dead

Honestly, the series is already pretty much dead, pretty much all the hardcore COD fans have left the series since MW3 arrived. They realised IW wasn't delivering their promises (Robert Bowling: "F*** you last stand" didn't happen) and that the game was designed for noobs, it's also the COD with the most problems (Lag Compensation etc) and therefore many people have moved onto Battlefield 3 or FIFA 12. Don't get me wrong, I am a COD fan, and even though I get bored of the game after a month or two, I still buy the next title... If you can convince me any of these statements mentioned above are false, then you deserve a medal.
