From what I read PS4 already have a DTS-HD Master Audio|7.1 decoder since Day 1 release

have you got a proper 7.1 set up. thats the only way it wouldnt let you do 7.1 i think

im sure if the bluray or game has been encoded in 7.1 it'll output it in 7.1 if your set up can manage it.

I am using my Tritton 720+'s which support 7.1 surround sound, but when I get the option to choose there is only an option for 5.1 Dolby surround sound. I'll look into it further and try to figure it out since I don't think you have a PS4 yet.
