mine was 699 but has a shit graphics card so I don't know. Just check out your local shops / their flyers and see what's on sale but, try to get something with 2gb ram, 300+gb harddrive and a decent graphics card if you want to game. If theres one with 250gb hard drive, good graphics card, 2gb ram that's good also but, you won't have as much space.

HP Pavilion DV6000. That's what I have and I'm loving it. I haven't touched our families two other desktop computers since I got it lol. It almost seems to run faster then the big Dell we have. Check this article about it out from PCMech You must login or register to view this content.
Yes it is around 750$ but hopefully your parents will understand 50$ more if not you can always pay 50$

+rep if I helped

I'd reconmend having a laptop power by intel, amd isn't that bad but its slow and when multi-tasking it'll hang up so I'd require you to get a intel laptop atleast 2gb RAM ( or 3gb I recomend ), and atleast a 250 gb hard drive storage space.

I'd definitely go with the HP better quality but it's very similar to your brother's. And are you currently owning the DV6000 or just using your brothers and have to give it back. Because if your brother gave that to you and you want a better one, you won't get any better for under 700

You should check not only the article but the comments on the bottom. I suggest you not to buy like this one, because i have it on my own. You ll have a lot of problems with it. Just see the 345 comments and you ll understand what I ve in mind. :p
