Sony has taken the opportunity of the Leipzig Games Convention to reveal the brand-spanking new PSP-3000, arriving Oct 15 in Europe for €199 (around $250), according to our main man Jem Alexander who's currently on site at the press conference.
Though it will look the same as the PSP-2000, you can expect an improved screen that's better outside with no glare and a built-in mic. This jibes with rumors we've heard previously, and but we don't know if the new "PS Button" is part of the package. We'll keep you posted.
So what's new? The LCD screen has received an upgrade, allowing it to display brighter colours and better image quality. In addition, it'll feature an in-built microphone to push the PSP as a communications device using Go!Messenger and Skype.
And that's about it. Definitely not as big a leap from PSP 1000 to 2000 (Slim & Lite), but perhaps a way to earn a few more customers who have been sitting on the fence. The updated PSP will be released in Europe, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand on October 15. It'll be bundled with one game for €199.
For North America, it'll arrive on October 14 in two bundles. The first will include Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, whilst the second will throw in a 4GB memory stick and a PSN voucher for Everyday Shooter for a retail price of $199.
