1) It's a lot cheaper.
Agreed, its a lot cheaper but you get less for it
2) It's completely backwards compatible.
Who plays gamecube games anymore? and you can't play SNES or N64 games on it via the cartridges so its not completely backwards compatible, PS3 is completely backwards compatible (if you have the fat one)
3) It has games that you actually enjoy playing.
If you have the mental capacity of a 3 year old
4) It's a family console.
you get it out at christmas and thats it
5) The 10-year-olds playing multiplayer with you
don't have microphones.
its pointless making mics for multiplayer as its not a gaming console
6) "Wii" is more fun to say. Try it.
"Sex" is more fun to say
7) Compatible with four different controllers.
Who needs four different controllers controllers?, the addons are annoying as it is
Wii started the whole "moving controller" craze.
Xbox took that one step further, Ps3 also made a better version
9) They're super light, small, etc.
you don't take you console anywhere, thats what memory cards and things are for
10) Friend Codes: No need to spend hours trying to think of a good screen name.
I prefer screenames as they are more unique to the person
11) An online service that is free
and isn't down for month-long-periods.
PSN is free and it was only down due to hackers, wouldn't of gone down if it wasn't for that reason. hardly worth hacking the Wii network, it was just by chance the PSN was hacked. plus we got a LOT of freebies from it of which i'm glad i waited 28 days for
12) It's super easy to hack, enabling free games.
again if someone could be bothered they could take down the network, and getting free games is illegal, get caught and your screwed
13) And, finally... Mario :fyea:
mario rocks but no present mario game was as good as mario64
Thats my two cents, good thread but some of your points are questionable.
Its a very cheap console and its fun for the first 5 mins you play, but the novelty of moving controllers wears off very quick, and its something you play once a year if that, my parents got one and they were addicted to it the first week they got it....2-3 years on they've probably played it....2 times.
for the ammount of time you spend on it, its actually quite expensive.
Heres why the Wii isn't as good as the Xbox/360:
1) Most the games are built with a 3 year old in mind.
2) they recylce a lot of their games and pass them off as new games (Mario and sonic olympics is just wii resort with the franchise in it)
3) The console is designed for familys with young childeren, hence no real gamers type games.
4) More of opinion but the home page and load screens are annoying as hell and that "Wiiiiiiiii" shit when stuff loads is hella annoying.
5) ME's are ust cluedo characters turned avatar.
6) The power capacity of a Wii is not as good as Xbox or Ps3 (meaning it can't handle as big a games like Oblivion/fallout)
7) The controller accessories are pointless and cost too much for what they do. i mean seriously. a wheel that you put your controller in to make it look like a steering wheel for like £22.99......no thanks.
8 ) Wii friend codes are annoying plus how do you know whos online if you have to remember that 2gjkbf794972 is your friend Bill bloggs? Screen names are easy associations.
9) No Blu-Ray player
10) all the controllers have removable battery packs, so its annoying taking them out and fitting them again to play, Ps3 has best controllers ever that require no batteries and removable chargeables
11) most kids within the WII''s markerting target own an Xbox or Ps3 and will use it more than a Wii (ages 6-13) however i do wish that kids would use the Wii more to keep them off games with age ratings 3 times their age.
12) Novelty factor wears off VERY fast
