You can stick any 2.5" sata hdd in there.

1. Boot ps3 into recovery mode
2. Select option "restore ps3 system"
This will format the drive to the ps3 and wipe everything(games,saves,etc)
When it is finished, you may be brought to a black screen, asking for your last syscall(last cfw installed)
3. Reinstall your cfw, or a downgrader and then your cfw.


You can also use a ssd if you get a power and sata cable to extend from the ps3's hdd port.
