(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I've been reading up on this ps3 shindig, and, just wanted to get a few things straight.

Currently, im on the 3.61 firmware, and the only way to downgrade to 3.55 is if i have another ps3 with 3.55 or lower. Understandable.

In order to install the custom firmware, i would have to copy the contents to my ps3 (once it has been downgraded).

Once it has been downgraded, I should be able to patch the mw2 game using w/e patcher i want, which seems easy enough.

My question is, assuming I am able to get the 3.55 cfw, would i still be able to play online?

Whats to stop the ps3 from updating again?

You can't downgrade a PS3 once it's past 3.55. And no you can't go online

People with 2 PS3's one on 3.65 one of 3.55 they do a data transfer soo the data from 3.55 will go to 3.65

So basically, what one would have to do is have 2 ps3's, one with the hacked firmware, and the other with the updated patch.

in the custom firmware one, you'd have to patch the mw2 file, and then copy the stuff from there, and load it into your updated ps3 with a usb (in a nut shell)

am i correct?

Almost.

The part where you mentioned the USB is incorrect, you would actually need to connect both PS3s using an ethernet cable then data transfer between them using the option under System Settings :y:
