edit:

how to:

be on rebug rex 4.78.2
use idpset to change cid
use idpset to cex to dex
use rebugtoolbox to set system menu to dex
update via xmb to rebug d-rex 4.80.1

Console ID can be permanently changed with Webman or CCAPI on pretty much any CEX/DEX firmware. If you're still on 4.50 ita then that's pretty sad, it's old and outdated.

That doesn't permanently change it, it only sets it on boot. Only way to permanently do it is using IDPS Set and some PC tool. Also, 4.50 as old as it is is one the most stable CFW's.

Ita is no more stable than any of the recent rebug firmware. Doesn't matter if you're on custom firmware or not, the ps3 only has 256MB of ram. At boot you're sitting at 1300-2000KB free. It's even worse if you're running mods on games. Typing on the keyboard in game is an absolute nightmare until the lag goes.

So many bad things about the ps3's performance it's pathetic. I'm surprised the damn thing runs GTA V at all.

No that's incorrect, most of the later Rebug releases are a bit buggy. Whether you see them or not, but it's not surprising as they are new. Most stable I know is 4.75.3. But ita 4.50 is the most stable CFW I've ever been on. Never once had any issues with, ran super smooth. Everyone who's been on it says the same.

ITA was a very good firmware but I moved to later firmwares to avoid the 8001009 error or something, so it is a bit outdated, also I was in rebug 4.76 and that was a good firmware and also came with the IP info on XMB which was a feature I really liked on ITA. Also later firmwares support webman which I like because it is quicker to load games than having to go onto multiman Smile

You could easily fix that launch error with multiman. I'd say the only big loss is Webman.

Oh that's the only game that needs 4.75+ to work.
