Kmeaw has updated his popular AsbestOS Installer to v1.5, with some new cool features you can expect below.

-Boot from internal hard drive – Linux rootfs is located at the same partition (splat in 10 loopmounted files) as the GameOS
-Gamepad support – Can also work as mouse in x11
-Change video modes using the menu system


With the latest version, you need a different rootfs for the boot from internal HDD function. So, Kmeaw has a compiled a pack of the latest version of Ubuntu that you can mount and boot with his version of AsbestOS.

You need to put the 10 IMG files from the pack to the dev_hdd0 path folder. Your PS3 can then boot from internal hard drive.

I got it to Work with 1.4asbestos pkg and the 1gig linux.img. but I can't get 1.5 to boot.

what i did to get this to work is put those files in my hdd0 and have my external hard drive hooked up and then run lv2 patcher v9 click on linux and it has no problem booting

I can confirm that this is not working on ps3 slim 120gb (original hdd) on kmeaw 3.55


but kha0s linux 3.0 does work with asbest os 1.4 BOOTING FROM A USB STICK FORMATED IN FAT NOT "FAT 32"

didnt work 4 me either

1.4 + debian on usb stick runs like a charm but this methode wont boot 4 me

wrong, i have a ps3 slim 120gb with the original hdd and this works fine for me
