Can someone explain in a little more detail what it actually does?

I'm assuming it just replaces version.txt. I don't know how that will help anything...

IF it is real, what it does is tell sony your on 3.56 when your really on 3.55.

It'll be patched before you know it.

damn man, I wish there was a LEGIT 3.56 downgrade, my stupid ass brother updated BOTH of my PS3's...

They don't use version.txt to see what fw you have. They learned that lesson on the psp. This might just stop the system from saying you need to update but i doubt it.
