if u have a 40gb or 60gb or even the newer 80gb modles come with the functionality to clean the ps3. All you need to do is, switch the ps3 off from the back..( the little switch at the back) hold down the eject button and whilst holding down the eject button turn ur ps3 on from the back and you ps3 will start up its fans really quickly and it will blow the dust back out. after the fans have stopped jus turn it off and turn it back on.

BADD>> leads to ur ps3 overheating.. VERY BAD THING TO DO
maybe once every 6 months.. but sumtimes mate the fans dnt clean it .. and it dnt helpp.. which could lead to overheat and another problem as well as ur ps3 not reading discs
