Depends on what model of ps3 you got & weather it has two laser "eyes"

All slim's have two eyes one for blu rays & one for dvd's & music cd's

If the Ps3 doesn't read blu ray films then it wont read games as they are also blu ray format

Obviously if you got a single eye model it wont play anything

Buy a new laser.. very cheap & install yourself,if you got a slim ps3 you most likely need a kes 450a replacement laser

Which part is broken? The laser or the motherboard? If it is just the laser, then you have to swap the laser and remarry it onto a different board of the same model. You can still run some backuped games from multiman also without a disc in your disc drive.
