Is there any diffrence between GTA Episodes from Liberty City and GTA IV? My friends got IV, can i play online with them?

Well u cant play with ur friends only if they are playing the same part of the game like if ur playing ballad of gay tony ur friends have to be on it also same for gta 4 and the lost and damned:hitman:

yes they have completly different story lines
