Yeah. Try starting the game while not signed in to PSN, then load multiplayer & try signing in then.
If the issue still persists, try re-installing the game patches.

i didn't sign in i just loaded the game then clicked multiplayer and the game just keeps freezing same with campaign and zombies
P.S im booting of an original disc

i did change the .self file would that have any issue with it if it does how will i restore it back to the original self file

Well if you made a backup, just replace it with that.
If you didn't, just downloaded the latest update PKG for your region of the game.
If you let me know your game region, I'll link you to the download.

My region is BLES-01717 but wont it work if i just delete the patches
