Firstly the downside is only hosts xp sticks.
Instead of leaving game when 50, you just stay in game until it ends.
When your in pregame lobby you should be 50, sign out & in, prestige & stats kept.

Last time I checked, XP can't stick for the host. However, this may work. I"ll try it later. If you aren't the host & you want the XP to stick, wait until the host backs out, back out once you're host, & sign out & sign back in.
