I've been doing it for the past like 10 free for all games, and I've been having a lot of fun. You need to wait for the scope to stop swaying (which is only like a half second now) then you can shoot. It is actually effective if you get good at it. Try it out, I've had a lot of fun recently.

Sniping is definitely not easy, but it is doable, and fun to try with the variable zoom scope.
