There was lots of talk that Modern Warfare 3 will be competing with Battlefield over its destructive environments which we all love in the game.
There was recently a live gameplay showing of the game in London and it showed that destruction will be scripted and not organic :(

Modern Warfare 3 needs to compete with battlefield and not having this is a slight let down in the game. Single player anyway, as this wouldnt work for online.

While destruction features heavily in Modern Warfare 3, the cinematic destruction on show was technically less convincing than the interactive destruction shown in DICE’s 12-minute Battlefield 3 trailer.

The mission shown in London was called ‘Black Tuesday’ and takes place in the famous Wall Street, as new character Frost fights his way through the New York Stock Exchange.
Reaching the roof, he detonates a Russian radar-jamming tower in a scripted set piece, which sends the tower toppling over convincingly.
However, firing bullets at surfaces and throwing grenades merely results in slight texture changes, rather than real-time destruction.

This is rather disappointing and Battlefield has this upper hand. Modern Warfare 3 needs to step up their game with something else in order to keep the competition alive :y:

MW3 shouldn't become like Battlefield. They are two different games for two different types of FPS players.

Destructive environments would cause the game to go haywire resulting in a drop in FPS. Just look at Battlefield. Its already struggling to maintain 30 fps whereas COD is a steady 60 fps

Bad Company 2 run at a solid 60 fps... I don't know what you're talking about lol, the gameplay is smoothe as ever. Didn't expect this in a cod though tbh.

Umm no. Battlefield Bad Company 2 runs at 30 fps. Its really obvious, at least on consoles it is.

Yea but do remember, Battlefield maps are huge, having destructible landscape on a CoD game would cause major glitches and ways to exploit the game to use it as an advantage. Also it would promote camping :/
