Ok, so after a LONG wait on hold, I got through to a representative over at Activision Chat.
This is what they said about the new update:

Really most of the improvements right now are on our end. As you know we had o make sure to update our servers due to the huge demand on them. As well as to smooth out the transition of players on multiplayer games. As you also know the Elite website is under maintenance as this update will assist in getting it stable.

So according to that, the new update was primarily for connecting issues and nothing concerning the game in general just encase anyone else was curious about what 1.03 brought.

Wow, thats just terrible. Now they really need to fix that. Like if they connect you to bad games but throw a green connection huh?

I hate how if a host migration fails or "Server timeout" bullshit happens, you don't get your XP. So annoying if you were going beast mode.

basically. i mean the game starts fine but the frame rate drops to around 45 or so and is REALLY laggy. i tried demo once and it felt the same.

Only problem I really had was joining a game quickly with a big party. But it got better once we got some rank.

I have problems entering a lobby but when i do i usually don't get any lag in game. So it's all ok i reckon

Thank god, now maybe it wont take 10 minutes to find a match with a party, and not get booted out when you load the map dude to a connection error :/
