Taliban characters in the upcoming game: Medal Of Honor

<font face="verdana" color="black"> At this moment in time, as I'm sure you know, NATO forces are fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan. The Taliban are an armed force of terrorists that commit atrocities daily. They kill civilians almost for sport. They are waging a guerilla war against UK and USA forces. Bomb disposal teams are in a living hell, IED's are practically everywhere. Around 7,500 IED's were used in 2009 in Afghanistan.

Medal Of Honor takes place in Helmand Province. This is the 'hot-point' of the Taliban. However, they can't bomb it since civilians are there as well. The war is tough and difficult. The people in the land are in terror of the Taliban and are murdered and abused by them. In Medal Of Honor Multiplayer (unsure about Single Player) you may play as the Taliban. This has caused outrage in the United Kingdom and some gamers living in Afghanistan and neighbouring countries have felt physically sick and couldn't move due to disgust after seeing the characters on screen. The Game is likely to be banned in the United Kingdom.

I am disgusted and angry. It's hard to believe any citizen of our country would wish to buy such a thoroughly un-British game. I would urge retailers to show their support for our armed forces and ban this tasteless product

Personally, I'll probably buy the game (if I can), however, I do see these points and while I believe that video games shouldn't be considered in terms of morality as reality I do understand and I'll probably only be slightly uncomfortable about killing United Kingdom Soldiers. However, in previous hit games such as the Call Of Duty series, you've been able to kill United States soldiers. These games haven't been banned in the USA.

To tell the truth, I hope that Medal Of Honor won't be banned in the UK. It's one of the biggest and greatest game series of all time and I'm excited that it's making a comeback. The United States Army is working directly with it, from a professional point of view it's had the best trailers for a video game yet. However, the Defence Secretary will have a lot of leeway and it's definitely possible that UK gamers won't see the game hit their shelves.

The format of the new Medal of Honour game merely reflects the fact that every conflict has two sides.

We give gamers the opportunity to play both sides. Most of us have been doing this since we were seven: someone plays the cop, someone must be robber.

What do you think?

yes, i totaly understand, theirs no differnce from playing wtih spatnaz, or op's for, its a player in a game, if you were on the tailban team, its not like you gonna be one, or, when you play one of them your gonna do a bombing or even think 'wow, their cool' becuase everyone knows that their ****ing evil men, if they just change the name 'tailban' to enemy, no one would give a shit then, but even so, its just one way the government is trying to stop games.

Wasn't that good anyway. And who buys a game for story mode, we all know Multiplayer is what we buy the game for.

Modern Warfare 2 may have been banned if they'd killed English or American civilians in the No Russian mission. In the eyes of the government it is glorifying the terrorists. These people are cruel and evil.

When you defend your land, you are not terrorist.

Ban Medal Of Honour please. I dont want to buy that shit. Our men are out there fighting a losing battle, and game developers think that is OK to do that. They need to think there ideas through before making there games. Regardless of whether they are making these games based or real events or not that is pretty sick considfering they are still fighting. Maybe if the fighting was over then it may be seen as OK. I am sure the soldiers out in Afghanistan fighting will not be happy. Infact i am sure they would find this quite disrespectful. They are out there to help and there moral needs to be as high as possible. This game doesnt do that.

No. We just highly respect what our armed forces are doing for us and others. This game is just purely disrespectful. As said above it is glorifying the Taliban. How would you feel if you were out in Afghanistan and you hear about how a game that is being sold in the UK or US for that matter is 'glorifying the Taliban'. Wouldnt be very nice would it? Maybe if all the fighting was over with it maybe seen as acceptable in my opinion. But the fact that the fighting is still going and they make a game about it is just disrespectful. Another reason why this is a bad thing to do is because of where the game is going to be sold the most. Guess where? US and UK. I wont be buying this game and allowing the developers to have more money to think of any more sick ideas.

Daddy's home.
I can understand where they are coming from, but at the same time it is just a game. I mean like in CoD you control the OpFor, who are meant to be the taliban, there is no offence taken to that though. I don't see it as glorifying anyone. I just see it as a game in which you get both sides of the story in. You get the good side, UK/USA and the bad side, Taliban. Sure, they are evil and don't like this and that, but no one in the game is really being killed unlike in real life. I'm interested to hear what the British soldiers think, not the arm chair bystanders. If the soldiers who have been out there don't want it, I think they should honour that and ban it, or make the necessary changes, such as name change and maybe costume change. None of us can say it's pathetic when we haven't been fighting in real life. It might be disrespectful to them and the families of the ones who have died. Then again, they might not give two shits about it. I want it to come out, but I respect the service men fighting for our country.
